Lingual Frenectomy (tongue tie removal / release: speak freely):
This procedure involves the adjustment of the small fold of tissue (lingual frenulum) that attaches the bottom of your tongue to the floor of your mouth.
If you lift your tongue up in front of a mirror you will be able to see the frenulum. It is designed to connect your tongue to the jawbone, but when the tissue attaches too close to the tip of your tongue it can restrict movement and affect speech and eating.
The labial frenulum is the small fold of tissue that attaches the centre of the upper lip to between your upper front teeth. This procedure is performed in cases including: orthodontic patients to assist with closing a front tooth gap, or patients fitted with a denture where it is loosening the fit and causing discomfort.
Please note, any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding you should obtain personal advice from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
